Not all endings are final. Some things remain as echoes of what once was. To be haunted is to live with what should be gone, but isn't. For our second contest, we want hauntings. Give us the crew member who never left the ship, the voice on a dead phone line, the version of someone that lingers long after they've walked out the door. Make it eerie, or tender, or terrifying. Whatever you make it, make it linger.

The universe is dark until there is light. The machine is cold until the first spark. The hero is ordinary until power stirs within. For the launch of Leafmines, we are looking for stories of Awakening. We want the moment the impossible becomes real. Whether it's a starship AI achieving sentience, a forgotten god opening its eyes in a modern city, or a rebellion finding its voice in a dystopian wasteland, give us a story of a new beginning.
