Speculative chapbook manuscripts from 7,500 to 12,000 words: a single novelette or multiple short stories, with flash welcome. Queer experience is of particular interest. Submissions are open August 20 through October 15, 2026. Expected turnaround is around three months; query after 90 days.

Novellas of 17,500–40,000 words in science fiction, fantasy, horror, supernatural, slipstream, or weird fiction; hybrid and difficult-to-categorize work is welcome. The October window is October 15–30, 2026, for all writers. Expected turnaround is around four months; query after 120 days.

Open to: Stories must have been published in 2026; submissions are open to all writers, but the work must be queer and speculative.

Reprints of speculative short fiction published in 2026, under 17,500 words, that implicitly or explicitly explore queerness and/or transness; original, unqueer, and non-speculative work is not wanted. Submissions close December 31, 2026. Selected authors will be contacted in April 2026, and the table of contents will be announced in May/June 2026.

Short stories for What Elegant Stars: Queer Tales of Impossible Style. Space-opera stories involving style, fashion, and society are sought; science fantasy and horror elements are welcome. Under 6,000 words, with 1–4,000 words described as the sweet spot. The submission window was January 15–April 15, 2026.
