After Happy Hour

Regular submissions reopen July 1. Submit complete stories from 2 to 20 pages; flash and microfiction under 1,000 words may be submitted up to three in one document. There is no hard word count, but works over 5,000 words must be exceptional.

Submit one creative nonfiction piece up to 6,000 words, double-spaced. The work should be personal yet connected to the broader world, tell a story with a clear beginning and end, and not be journalistic or scholarly; flash and micro pieces under 1,000 words may be submitted up to three in one document.

Poetry submissions should challenge form, language, or society and use a distinctive voice. Send up to three poems in a single document; there are no line limits, but the journal does not publish extremely long works. Single-spaced submissions are requested.

Suites are series of 3–6 very short pieces submitted and considered as one unit, up to 10 pages. They may combine poetry, fiction, images, or other forms and can function as a micro-chapbook, character study, or image-and-words work.

Feedback submissions are considered for publication and may receive workshop-style comments on flow, mechanics, world, line edits, characters, plots, or exercises. A contribution to the featured nonprofit, documented by a donation screenshot, is required; the journal matches donations up to an unstated amount per reading period.
