Ballast welcomes poetry book reviews and critical essays, including work engaged in academic inquiry, explication, or critique, or essays that operate as lyric essays in their own right. Submissions are always open and free; work must not be generated or assisted by generative AI.
Ballast welcomes three to five poems in one document, including long, concrete, verbivocovisual, translated, co-authored, and otherwise experimental poems. Maximum 15 pages; simultaneous submissions are allowed, and multiple submissions are limited to twice per calendar year with three months between submissions. Work must not be generated or assisted by generative AI.
