Creative nonfiction, including memoir and personal essay, with contemporary themes; no literary criticism. Generally 20–25 manuscript pages, though shorter and longer pieces may be published. Considered year-round; between May 1 and August 1, only nonfiction is read. Previously unpublished work only.
Open to: Reviews must not cover self-published books or books by a friend, colleague, professor, or student.
Book reviews of previously unpublished reviews of poetry and short story collections, novels, and literary nonfiction, generally books published within the last year. Focus on small or independent presses, university presses, and new or emerging writers; reviews should be 750–1,000 words. Considered year-round; reviewers receive a one-year subscription.
