In-house short story contest accepting fiction only from September 1 through January 31. Fiction must be 1,000-5,000 words, unpublished, written in English, and not AI-generated. The submission fee is $30; all submitters receive a Driftwood Press fiction title. Grand Prize is $400 and runner-ups receive $200.
Novella submissions are currently open. The press seeks crafted, character-driven novellas with tangible worlds, dimensional relationships, and thematic and narrative arcs; it generally avoids young adult, fantasy, romance, science fiction, and mainstream mystery but welcomes strange and surreal narratives. Recommended length is 20,000-30,000 words. Submissions typically take four to nine months, with a target of six.
Editors & Writers Seminar is a five-week course beginning on a Monday selected by the applicant; applicants submit a 200-word statement of interest and a 100-word biography. The cost is $250 USD.
