Fall 2026 general submissions are closed due to overwhelming response; fee-free submissions from current subscribers are open during September 2026. Ecotone seeks fiction deeply rooted in place and/or engaging with ecology, natural history, or the climate crisis. A prose submission is one piece of no more than approximately 10,000 words; shorter prose should be at least 2,000 words. Response time is six to nine months, currently longer.
