Submission calls
Open to: Douglas College staff, faculty, and their family members with an affiliation within the past two years are excluded, except for reviews. Submissions must be entirely human-created.
The annual 2026 Non-Fiction Contest is open until October 15. EVENT seeks real-life experiences told as riveting creative nonfiction narratives with distinct voices.
General fiction submissions are accepted in January, July, August, and December, opening on the first day of the month and closing on the last day or when the unpaid submission limit is reached. Submit one short story of up to 5,000 words; work must be previously unpublished and entirely human-created.
General poetry submissions are accepted in January, July, August, and December, opening on the first day of the month and closing on the last day or when the unpaid submission limit is reached. Submit up to six poems; work must be previously unpublished and entirely human-created.
