Open to: Entrants must identify as QTBIPOC+, currently reside in Alameda, Napa, Santa Clara, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Solano, Marin, San Mateo, or Sonoma County, and have no previous full-length publication in the submission genre.

The START A RIOT! Chapbook Prize accepts submissions September 1-December 1. It seeks an unpublished poetry manuscript of 15-25 pages, including hybrid chapbooks and experimental work. The entrant must identify as QTBIPOC+, reside in the larger San Francisco Bay Area, and have no previous full-length publication in the submission genre. The prize is $3,000 plus $1,000 for book-tour or promotion support.

Print submissions are closed; the annual submission periods are February 1-April 1 and August 1-October 1. Submit up to 7,500 words of unpublished fiction, including up to three flash fiction pieces. Only one fiction submission per reading period is permitted, and submissions are capped at 250. Contributors receive a $100 honorarium.
