Fugue seeks unusual, world-rearranging stories, particularly those invested in real or imagined environments and climates. Stories must be no more than 3,000 words; works of 1,000 words or less should be submitted as flash prose.
Fugue seeks arresting, voice-driven flash fiction and nonfiction, including maximalist prose, grotesque or sentimental work, and sparse impressionist vignettes. Works over 1,000 words will not be considered; submit up to two flash pieces in one packet.
Fugue seeks broadly conceived literary nonfiction, including personal essays, hybrid works, criticism, and theory, that is grounded, imaginative, playful, and vital. Pieces must be 5,000 words or less; works of 1,000 words or less should be submitted as flash prose.
Fugue seeks boundary-pushing reviews and interviews engaging books and authors critically and personally, especially small-press books, genre-defying works, and unconventional criticism. Completed pieces are submitted through Submittable; pitches are accepted by email, and no word count is specified.
Fugue seeks dense, distinctive, intellectually powerful poems with confident idioms, mystery, and unique voices. Submit up to three poems in one document, with a maximum submission length of 10 pages; AI-created or AI-assisted work is not accepted.
