Open year-round through Submittable for short fiction in any genre; maximum 5,000 words. Previously unpublished work only, and work generated or influenced by LLMs/AI is not considered.

nonfictionLiteraryEligibility requirements

Open to: previously unpublished work; no work generated or influenced by LLMs/AI; limit submissions in any one genre to one per calendar year.

Creative nonfiction, memoir, and literary essays are preferred; subject matter may vary, with emphasis on craft, diction, syntax, and detail. Previously unpublished work only.

poetryLiterary

Poetry of all genres, styles, and traditions is welcome, including experimental, hybrid, and translated poetry; send 3-5 poems during a reading period. Submissions are on pause for summer 2026.

otherLiterary

Wrongfully Neglected seeks vivid, engaging recommendations, reflections, and reviews of overlooked poems, stories, essays, or books, typically published more than 2 years ago; 500-750 words. Query for regular reviews via email.
