Open to: Open to U.S. and international writers whose fiction has not appeared in a nationally distributed publication with a circulation of 5,000 or more; online-magazine and self-published writers are considered individually.
Original unpublished fiction of any genre, with no theme or genre restrictions, up to 3,500 words. The 2026 entry fee is $15 by September 1; the late fee is $20 from September 2 through September 15. Entries after September 2026 are not accepted for the 2026 competition; submissions for the 2027 competition begin September 16, 2026. Winners will be posted in May 2027.
