fictionLiteraryFee required for unsolicited submissions; amount not statedPays: $200 minimum for each accepted poem; $100 for poetry reprints; $200 for a Poem of the Week.

Year-round poetry submissions may contain up to five poems in one file; all poetic forms and genres are accepted, but translations are not. Unsolicited submissions require a reading fee.

nonfictionLiteraryFee required for unsolicited submissions; amount not statedPays: $250–$500 for 500–2,000-word manuscripts; $500–$1,000 for 2,000–15,000-word manuscripts; $100 for Readers’ Narratives.

Year-round submissions include essays and other complete short nonfiction works of 2,000–15,000 words, nonfiction excerpts, novellas and other long works under book length at 15,000–40,000 words (submit the first 15,000 words with a synopsis), and serialization proposals. Unsolicited submissions require a reading fee.

Readers’ Narratives may run up to 1,500 words and are accepted year-round. Unsolicited submissions require a reading fee.

Narrative Out Loud audio prose may be fiction or nonfiction in storytelling form, up to ten minutes, and must be submitted as an MP3. Audio poetry may also be submitted in MP3 format, up to ten minutes. Both are accepted year-round.
