Short stories, short shorts, novellas, novel excerpts (if they can stand alone), and translations; word limit 20,000 (most under 10,000); one piece at a time unless under 1,000 words (then up to three); double-space and include word count.

nonfictionLiteraryOpens Sep 1

Interpretive and personal essays, critical reassessments, cultural criticism (art, film, etc.), travel writing, environmental writing, and works in translation; word limit 20,000 (most under 10,000); double-space and include word count.

otherOpens Sep 1

Dramatic writing: short plays, monologues, and screenplays, up to 5,000 words; must read well on the page; double-space and include word count.

Staging Style: brief essays (900–2,000 words) that explore questions of style, time, sound, form, voice, character, image, setting, risk, genre, etc.

poetryLiteraryOpens Sep 1

Long and short poems, including translations; up to six poems at once, uploaded as a single file.
