Previously unpublished fiction, including one story or novel excerpt up to 8,000 words, or up to three flash pieces under 1,000 words each; speculative work is welcome but not required. Eligible for the fall online or spring print issue.

nonfictionLiteraryFee: $5

Essays experimenting with language and form, including place-based writing, flash and micro memoirs, prose poems, hermit crab essays, and other boundary-pushing nonfiction; one piece up to 8,000 words or up to three flash or micro pieces of roughly 1,000 words each. Eligible for the fall online or spring print issue.

otherFee: $5

Experimental hybrid work that rethinks language and genre, including stories in verse, speculative nonfiction, graphic essays, comic or graphic-novel excerpts, sound play, and multimodal texts, up to 8,000 words. Eligible for the fall online or spring print issue.

poetryLiteraryFee: $5

Fresh, risky language and imagery in experimental, conventional, and traditional-form poetry; submit up to five poems. Eligible for the fall online or spring print issue.
