Rattle

Open to: Open worldwide to writers; manuscripts must be primarily in English, and the collection as a whole must be unpublished. At least one winner will not yet have professionally published a full-length poetry book.

The 2027 Rattle Chapbook Prize accepts a single manuscript of 15–30 pages of poetry. The deadline is January 15, 2027; the $30 entry fee includes a one-year subscription. Winners are announced April 15, 2027.

Open to: Machine-generated text is not accepted; Rattle does not accept work previously published in books, magazines, or similar public collections.

Poetry translations are accepted through unsolicited submissions; general submissions are open year-round and always free.

Poems responding to a news story or public event from the previous week, written since the event, with a brief explanation. The weekly deadline is Friday at midnight PT; submissions may be made as often as desired.

General submissions are open year-round and free. Rattle wants previously unpublished poems, in free verse or traditional forms, with up to four poems per submission. Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, but do not submit again in this category until receiving a reply.

Poems based on the current Rattlecast prompt. The deadline is the end of each month; one poem is selected as the Prompt Poem of the Month, with the winner chosen early the following month.
