Ekphrastic Challenge: Each month, submit a poem in response to a specific image posted for the current month; deadline is the last day of each month, and only poems responding to the current image are considered.
General poetry submissions are open year-round, always free, and welcome poems of any length or style (up to four poems per submission, previously unpublished except for self-publication online, no AI-generated work).
Poets Respond: Submit poems written in response to news stories or public events from the previous week, with a weekly deadline of Friday at midnight PST; selected poems published online each Sunday.
Open to: Current or former Youth Poet Laureates or Ambassadors at any level
Tribute to Youth Poet Laureates (Spring 2027 issue): For current or former Youth Poet Laureates or Ambassadors at any level; submit up to four previously uncurated poems of any length or subject, with a contributor note about your laureate experience.
Tribute to Travel (Summer 2027 issue): Submit up to four previously uncurated poems of any length engaging with the experience of travel, with a contributor note about the trip or travel experience behind the poem.
