The Al and Eurithe Purdy Poetry Prize

Open to: Author must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident with at least five traditionally published poetry books in print. The book must be at least 48 pages, published in 2026 by a Canadian publisher, and not be a chapbook, self-published title, e-book, new edition, or pre-2026 publication. Selected or collected work must contain at least 25% new material. Translations require both author and translator to be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

The 2027 prize is for a poetry book published in 2026 by a Canadian publisher. Books must be at least 48 pages, have one author, and be submitted by November 24, 2026; translations are eligible under stated Canadian author and translator requirements. No submission fee. Prize: $10,000.
