News article pitches (2-4 paragraphs) should present a unique angle on recent scientific discoveries, social/policy issues, or technical innovations, and explain how the story advances previous coverage; authors should be scientists or experienced journalists.

Opinion and analysis articles (about 1,000 words) welcome viewpoints on science, health, and technology from informed observers, scholars, and policy professionals; must include a draft or sample paragraphs and a pitch; no ghostwritten pieces.
Poems for the Meter column must be new or previously unpublished and relate to any aspect of science or math.
