The Arkansas International is a literary magazine publishing fiction, poetry, nonfiction, comics, and works in translation, with themed and unthemed issues and payment for contributors.

fictionLiterary

General submissions of previously unpublished fiction, including translations; prose submissions should be no more than 8,000 words and excerpts must be self-contained. Fiction contributors are paid $25 per 500-word page, capped at $200. Submissions are currently closed.

nonfiction

General submissions of previously unpublished essays, including translations; prose submissions should be no more than 8,000 words and excerpts must be self-contained. Submissions are currently closed.

other

General submissions of previously unpublished comics and works in translation; comics and translations must follow relevant guidelines (translations require rights clearance). Submissions are currently closed.

poetry

General submissions of previously unpublished poetry, including translations; poem packets no more than five poems. Poets are paid $25 per page, capped at $200. Submissions are currently closed.
