They seek socially engaged cultural criticism, class-sensitive analysis, and sharp interventions in politics, media, arts, or academia. Nonfiction is accepted by two- to four-paragraph pitch only; they do not read draft nonfiction submissions. They pay $2,000 for essays.
Mentions are 1–4 sentence reviews with a clear, narrow angle, a few jokes, and a punchy kicker; include your name and relevant clips. They pay $25 for Mentions.
Submit up to six poems in a single Word document or PDF; submit no more than twice a year. They pay $150 per poem.
