Short fiction is open for the September 2026 reading period; polished, confident, well-developed original stories up to 5,000 words are wanted. Submissions are accepted July 21–October 20 for the Winter Issue, with final decisions in November.

Flash fiction and flash CNF are open for the September 2026 reading period. Flash is 400–1,000 words and micro is no more than 400 words; one piece per submission. Submissions are accepted July 21–October 20 for the Winter Issue, with final decisions in November.

Short creative nonfiction is open for the September 2026 reading period; artful essays with clear voices are wanted, up to 5,000 words. Submissions are accepted July 21–October 20 for the Winter Issue, with final decisions in November.

Translation, hybrid, experimental, and collaborative writing are accepted, including Spanish translations. Work submitted to an open call that meets the micro requirement may also be considered for Micro Monday; submissions are accepted July 21–October 20 for the Winter Issue, with final decisions in November.

Poetry is open for the September 2026 reading period; boundary-pushing, evocative, formally adventurous or traditional poems are wanted. There is no individual-poem length limit, but submissions may contain no more than 5 poems and 10 pages total. Submissions are accepted July 21–October 20 for the Winter Issue, with final decisions in November.
