In Conversation section (reviews, interviews, profiles, or other text types on ESL writing) by ESL writers; 700–1,500 words; must focus on ESL writers or their work; currently closed, will reopen in September.
Original short stories by ESL writers (writers who learned English after another language); 1,000–4,000 words; one piece per category per submission; no simultaneous submissions; no AI-generated or AI-modified texts; only during open calls.
Original flash fiction or flash nonfiction by ESL writers; up to 600 words; one piece per category per submission; no simultaneous submissions; no AI-generated or AI-modified texts; only during open calls.
Original creative nonfiction (personal essay) by ESL writers; 1,000–4,000 words; one piece per category per submission; no simultaneous submissions; no AI-generated or AI-modified texts; only during open calls.
Original poetry by ESL writers; one poem per submission, not exceeding four C4, A4, or Letter pages; no simultaneous submissions; no AI-generated or AI-modified texts; only during open calls.
