Submissions are now open. Fiction must be under 1,000 words: either one piece of 700–1,000 words or three pieces of 700 words or fewer. Character-driven stories that examine human nature are especially welcome; previously unpublished work and translations are accepted, and simultaneous submissions are allowed.
Observations is currently closed, though the page says it is open year-round. Essays must be 1,000 words or fewer and may respond to art, reading, food, landscape, travel, science, or other subjects; sensory nonfiction, book, music, art, and film reviews, and review pitches are welcome.
