The Calvino Prize seeks experimental short stories or flash fiction sequences that refresh, renew, or reorient what a story can do; submissions may be up to 25 industry-standard pages. Previously published work and excerpts from larger works are ineligible. The winner receives $2,000 and publication; a runner-up may receive $500 and publication. Submit July 1 through October 1, 2026; Submittable lists the deadline as October 16, 2026 at 4:00 AM.
