The Braag

Prose pamphlets, novellas, or experimental prose submissions of 8,000–40,000 words, or approximately 3,000–5,000 words plus a 500-word synopsis or pitch with a commitment to provide the completed manuscript by the end of April the following year. Adult fiction only; strange, folkloric, lyrical, gothic, and historic fiction with a speculative edge are welcome. Hard sci-fi, excessive gore, non-gothic horror, and portal fantasy are hard sells. Manuscripts accepted in 2026 will be published in autumn 2028.

Micro-chapbooks are nine pages formatted in A6 and may contain poetry, microfiction, or one speculative short story of 1,500–2,500 words. Submit in A5 or A6 format, prioritising word count for prose and page count for poetry. Simultaneous and collaborative submissions are allowed; 50% must be previously unpublished.

Poetry pamphlets of 15–30 pages; submissions open through July each year. Submit a .docx or .pdf with a synopsis of up to 250 words and biography of up to 100 words. Poetry may be sprawling and speculative, with rich language and high-concept work especially welcome. Simultaneous and collaborative submissions are allowed; 50% must be previously unpublished.
